Hi, my loves! I'm so sorry for the delay! I've been applying to scholarships like crazy. But I'm back and at it again. In fact, I've been doing several photo shoots and reaching out to my photographer friends so that I can have pictures lined up for my many posts to come! Before I get started, let me just say: starting a blog has changed me. I find myself lugging around a bulky camera to all my outings, stopping for photo shoots every 5 minutes, and sitting at my computer half of my sleepless nights. I lose time blogging, and I love it. In some ways, I'm not appreciating the moment, like how I described in "Polaroid Perfect," as much as I used to because I'm more focused on capturing the moment than living it it. Yet, in some ways, I'm cherishing it more because I now find value in every moment, every experience because I can talk about these moments in my blog. I don't know if I'm appreciating life more or less, I just know that there has been a change, and I'm not opposed to it. But now, onto the real topic of discussion.
Frames. Shades. Sunglasses. Whatever you want to call them, I have an obsession. The shades you see in these pictures are just one of many I own. I have 5 as of right now, and I know that doesn't seem like a lot, but you have consider the fact that every time I go shopping, the first thing I look at are the sunglasses. If I already have 5, how many more do I really need? Well, let me just tell you, you can never have too many sunglasses. Well, maybe you can, but it's fun to have too many. I get excited whenever I stumble across an interesting pair. What new shapes are in style? What outfits would pop with the addition of this new color? They are just the perfect accessory with any outfit, whether you wear them on your nose, your head, your shirt, or in your hand, they add something. They are as essential to an outfit as the perfect purse or the perfect shoes. And, there's always the plus of having your eyes shaded from the harsh rays of the sun... well, it's a plus in Vegas at least.
Sunglasses offer more than just the final piece to your outfit, though. They add confidence. When I first thought of talking about the confidence they bring, I realized, sunglasses aren't the only thing that can boost your ego, and so I've decided to do a series on confidence builders, so look for more to come in future posts! But anyway, sunglasses. They give you a new persona. The second I put on a pair, I'm a different person. I suppose I just feel... well, cooler. Side note: writing that last sentence made me think of "Cooler Than Me" by Mike Posner haha. But, it's true. In all the old movies, the stereotypical cool kids normally have a pair of sunglasses with some sort of Too Cool for School merchandise. Do sunglasses make someone cooler because his or her eyes are obscured from view? Is the dark or colored lens what takes you from geek to chic? The world may never know... Just kidding, this isn't a tootsie pop. I think sunglasses are what brings someone to the next level, physically and emotionally in regards to esteem. Although people aren't typically made fun of for needing prescription glasses anymore, there is still something uniquely cool about wearing something over your eyes simply for fashion.
Have fun tomorrow, going to parades and watching fireworks, and don't forget to bring your shades! xoxo Don't worry, I won't judge you if you wear your sunglasses at night, too, because sometimes I wear mine at night. But, tomorrow, it might dull the effect of the firecrackers...
Much love from hails ;)
